Grandparents increasingly are seeking custody of their grandchildren for multiple reasons, and our Family Law attorneys have extensive knowledge on this complex legal process.

Under current Pennsylvania law, grandparents may file for physical and/or legal custody in certain, very specific circumstances. The courts will consider these circumstances in determining whether the grandparent has ‘standing’, or the legal right to file for custody.

We can explain how factors including a child’s current living arrangement, years spent in a living arrangement, and status of the child’s parents, among others, may come into play. Our attorneys are familiar with individual practices of area county courts. This area of the law has undergone revisions in recent years to uphold the best interests of the child with parents’ rights.
